Security expert claims new e-passports are flawed.
As new electronic passports are prepared to be introduced in Canada, British security experts have warned that the technology is far from fool proof.
The new passports use radio frequency ID chips to store information about the passports owner that can be used by customs and border officials to help verify the holders identity.
British computer security expert Adam Laurie, has been highlighting the flaws in ePassport technologies for the past five years.
He has demonstrated how automated scanners can be fooled and that software can be downloaded to assist in cloning e-passports.
Mr Laurie, who is a the director of Aperture Labs Ltd., and an expert in security has urged governments to look very carefully at the deployment and implementation of electronic systems
