Lovells approve Hogan & Hartson merger
British solicitors Lovells is to merge with American Hogan& Hartson to create one of the world's largest law firms. The partnerships of the two firms voted to approve a merger, which will create a business with 2,500 solicitors.
The merger brings an end to Lovell's 110-year independence, with the firm tracing its history back to 1899 when John Spencer Lovell set up his practice in the City of London.
The combined firm will have revenues of approximately US $1.8bn, with more than 40 offices around the world. From May next year, the combined business will be known as Hogan Lovells.
