Middlesbrough man admits impersonating a barrister in a string of court cases.

Ian Clegg, 32, claimed he was qualified to represent people before JPs in the magistrates courts and judges in the county courts. He took part in several cases before Langbaurgh East Magistrates' Court in Guisborough and the local county court.

Clegg also pleaded guilty to three charges of fraud, which were committed between September 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008, where he claimed to be a qualified barrister and was able to represent clients before the county court.

In his latest appearance at Durham Crown Court Clegg admitted two charges of impersonating a barrister on April 7 this year.

The defendant, of Trinity, Cambridge Square, Middlesbrough, admitted a further charge of breaching bail on September 16 this year by failing to surrender, he will be sentenced on Monday.
