Ignorance of computer viruses could be the cause of security problems.
Get Safe Online managing director Tony Neate claimed that there is a need for the education of people of all ages and instruction on what protection is actually needed.
Neate speaking during Anti-Virus awareness week, made a comparison to a car and stated that computers are so cheap now and if someone has to spend £20-30 on securing it every year they may not. They will spend £3-4000 on a car and they think nothing of spending a few hundred pounds on servicing it.
He also claimed that the answer lies in educating people of all ages, from youngsters to OAP surfers. This is not just about technical security but personal security too.
